Description

Unlocked from the extensive archives of the Military Gallery and previously unseen, Robert Taylor’s painting Daring Manoeuvres captures a deft moment during the distinguished career of the late Johnny Baldwin, the RAF’s highest-scoring Typhoon Ace of World War 2. It happened on Wednesday, 20th January 1943, the day on which, flying a Typhoon with 609 Squadron, he scored his first victories during an encounter with enemy fighters over southern England. A moving tribute to Hawker’s memorable Typhoon… Each print in the edition is issued signed by artist Robert Taylor, individually hand-numbered, and exclusively available through the Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group and Aces High, helping to raise funds to restore Hawker Typhoon RB396 to airworthiness. This is the first signed printout of the 100 commissioned.

To make a Bid before the live Auction or if you cannot attend: Copy the following text in an email to blacktie@hawkertyphoon.com

I would like to bid on the Live auction lot … (Number/Description)

I would like to bid up to this price (this is the not-to-exceed price you want to bid to). £…

The HTPG team will then take your submission and collate the pre-bids. The team will work out, based on the value, who has the highest pre-bid. If the highest values are matching, the date/time will determine the winner (first to bid at that price). The max value will be determined as £5 more than the second-highest price.

On the night, the pre-bid price will not be mentioned, but we will say we have a bid already in, and we will need to exceed that in the room. If it is not exceeded, then the highest pre-bidder will take the prize, as per the above process.
